A Minimalist Wedding with Maximum Style Point Lookout Community Hall North Stradbroke Island

Even before Meghan Markle slipped into that Givenchy, bateau necklined dress, my Berlin-based clients, Allana & Max were fixed on a minimalist direction that would deliver maximum style for a wedding on Stradbroke Island.

And what venue could possibly deliver this brief?  It had to be the Point Lookout Community Hall!  This venue is definitely among my top five all-time favourites anywhere.. open plan, light, airy and tucked away in private little space just behind beautiful Home Beach.  It's a stunning blank canvas that is a treat for a stylist like me and a go-to venue for matrimonial, minimalist adventurers like Allana & Max.

Achieving a minimal aesthetic is like the nuanced skill of a tightrope walker; one piece too many and you’re tumbling toward a cluttered earth. One too little and you’re floating in empty space.  I love to play on that fine line, so I was all in when the invitation came.

Living in Berlin, Allana and Max were keen to celebrate the beginning of their marriage with family and friends back home on gorgeous Stradbroke Island.  When I lived in Germany, beautiful as it was (at times like living in a post card!), it was the scent of the Australian bush that I missed the most so I totally got it when Allana and Max asked me to include mostly native florals in their styling. Of course!  Structural and bold, flora such as protea, banksia and eucalypt were the perfect compliment to style simplicity.

Alana and Max decided to host their wedding ceremony in the garden of the Hall (a clever way to save on the budget and create maximum comfort for your guests). We popped the champagne corks as soon as their ‘I’ do’s’ were declared and drinks and canapés were served in the garden while they accepted congratulations and hugs from friends and family.

From there it was the beach for sunset photos and a little ‘alone’ time while the celebration continued at the Hall.  Upon their return a shared feasting meal was served at extended bare wooden banquet tables followed by dancing into the night on the deck with the bride making a quick change (a de rigour event for the modern bride) into a white sequinned jumpsuit and leather jacket… What can I say?  Totally lit and just sooo Allana & Max.  Thanks guys for inviting me and all the team to create the beginning of what is sure to be a marriage made in minimalist heaven!

All thanks also to my pro event team who do the hard yards (and miles!) with me up ladders, under benches and across tables.  Many of my team have been with me for years and before joining Two Little Rows had long term careers in the event industry across all corners of the world. Collectively there’s over 80 years of event experience in my team at most of our events.  Little wonder we can nail those briefs!  And of course, even my team couldn’t do it all without the talented skills and support from our extended dream team below...
