All weddings are beautiful in their own way, but some remain strong in my heart and for varying reasons; kind and thoughtful clients, intimate ceremonies, breathtaking moments, magical happenings on the beach (think fighter jets booming overhead, whales breaching and dolphins frolicking in moonlit waves) and some encompass all of the above.
Jo & Andy.. A wedding to remember
One such wedding was that of Joanna & Andy. A beautiful couple with a young family, Joanna and Andy engaged Two Little Rows (formerly Stradbroke Weddings) to plan and create their wedding at Point Lookout on Stradbroke Island.
They decided to host their wedding reception at the Pt Lookout Community Hall and we booked their ceremony nearby on Home Beach, accessed through the forest known as the ‘Fairy Track’. The fact that many attending guests were travelling from overseas, allowed us to plan a Monday wedding.
Gotta say, I love a mid-week beach wedding… Straddie is super quiet, the beaches deserted, wedding suppliers are plentiful and a this-is-not-a-weekend-wedding-discount is always on the cards. Huraah!
Deserted beaches - Just one of the benefits of a mid-week wedding
The brief was “A pretty, romantic and family-centred wedding’. Got it! On the beach, we installed white vintage chairs with a sweet lace ceremony arch trimmed with wildflowers. Jo told me later that when she walked onto the beach, she couldn’t believe how beautiful it was and that it was all for her!
Our lace arch styled with gorgeous florals we created to compliment Jo's
Abundant florals including Hyacinths, Roses, Freesias and berries extended to Jo’s bouquet that we created to compliment her figure hugging, lace dress. The beautiful Erin Gallienne http://eringallienne.com/ (we love Erin!) styled Jo’s hair with soft curls and natural makeup and as always, created her special brand of magic. Jo looked stunning!

When I think of Jo and Andy, I think of Rita Hayworth and a young Kevin Costner. Can you see it, or is it just me?
That beautiful moment when Andy sees his gorgeous bride..
Following the ceremony, guests made their way to the Point Lookout Community Hall while Jo & Andy slipped away with Hannah Gough for photographs. Hannah (from Hannah Photography fame http://www.hannahphotography.com.au/ ) caught my interest from the first moment I worked with her a number of years ago… a true professional, a creative artist and an all round nice gal to boot. What more could you ask?

Back in the garden of the Community Hall, guests sipped champagne from vintage coup glasses and enjoyed canapés served on vintage serviceware. All the while, being treated to chilled tunes played by DJ Beaver of Byron Bay DJ fame (more about this fabulous guy later!).
A garden transformed with soft fabric, festoons and candles
As evening fell, the garden transformed into a wonderland with garlands of festoon lights, small vintage tables, flowers, billowing soft curtains and hundreds of candles and lanterns.
And inside? The Hall sparkled with thousands of crystals entwined with fairy ights and draped across the ceiling (Snaps to my incredible staff who spent hours up ladders to make this sparkle happen!). Thanks Team TLR! You rock!
Guests take their seat for a shared banquet feast
Tall floral centrepieces and hundreds of candles styled a wide banquet table. All guests were seated around this table where a shared feasting meal was served on our vintage crockery and flatware with tea & cake to follow served from a candlit grazing station.
Candles & crystals combine to create table magic inside the Pt Lookout Community Hall
Post dinner and formalities, DJ Beaver http://www.byronbayweddingdj.com/ turned up the volume and guests danced the night away under a sparkling disco ball (Oh yeah, it’s not a dance floor without one!) and lights. Just like weddings, some suppliers stand out from the crowd and DJ Beaver is one in a mill. By far, the BEST DJ I have worked with these many years. Yes, I’m talking standing-ovation-from-clients-make-your-wedding-a-blast-fabulous!
Disco Ball anyone? The dance floor essential.
What a team we pulled together and what a day! After the last of drops of champagne were drained, the Community Hall left sparkling and clean and the crystals packed snugly away, Jo and Andy sent me a little note;
"Jeannie is the Guru of weddings on Stradbroke Island. There is no question she can't answer & nothing is impossible, or too much trouble. We were so relaxed in the run up to & during the day - we couldn't have been in safer hands & it definitely showed on the day. Walking down the sandy aisle & seeing the beautiful ocean & then setting eyes on the magnificent creation of Jeannie & her team took my breath away! We had a vision of what we wanted for our wedding & Jeannie exceeded everything we could have wished for...Thank you so much, it is a day we will always remember with joy."
Aww shucks, thank you Jo and Andy. I too will always remember your day with absolute joy!
